Everyday intentions

Niyyah for study: a good intention

I study to understand, to grow closer to Allah, and to be useful to others.

A good niyyah for study

A path to Paradise. Whoever sets out on a path seeking knowledge, Allah makes easy for him a path to Paradise (Sahih Muslim 2699).

Schoolwork counts, with the right intention. Learning a trade or a subject to serve people and support your family is counted by what you intend (Sahih al-Bukhari 1).

You can give sadaqah openly, with every payment shown.

Habits that go with it

Small sunnahs around the act.

  • Begin a revision session with Bismillah and a sincere intention (Sahih al-Bukhari 1).
  • Teach what you learn: the best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it (Sahih al-Bukhari 5027).
